The blue flower – Wulfenia
The Nassfeld region is not only known for hiking, cycling and skiing. For passionate botanists, the blue Wulfenia carinthiaca flower is an absolute highlight.
Here in the Nassfeld, the Wulfenia is one of the most strictly protected plants. It is only found in the area around the Gartnerkofel, Mörderndorfer Alpe and Kron Alpe, growing at elevations of 1300 to 1900 metres.
How the flower arrived in the Nassfeld region remains unknown, since this species otherwise grows only in the Himalayas or Albania.
